Portfolio Support

An investor that uses the product.

Wesvel’s venture access comes from being useful to founders, and that usefulness does not end at the closing. The firm runs trading, lending and infrastructure every day; a protocol or company building in those areas gets an investor who will use what it builds, tell it what is wrong, and connect it to the counterparties it needs.

Being a user

For a venue, a lending protocol, a settlement layer or a data provider, the most valuable early customer is a professional one that will run real flow through the product and report what breaks. Where a portfolio company’s product fits a Wesvel strategy and passes the same diligence as any other venue, the firm uses it, and the feedback goes back to the team.

Liquidity and market structure

Founders launching a token or a market face questions about liquidity provision, listing venues, market-maker terms, funding dynamics and collateral eligibility that a trading firm answers daily. Wesvel shares that view. Where the firm provides liquidity to a portfolio protocol it does so under the same terms and diligence as anywhere else, and the relationship is disclosed to investors.

Infrastructure and operations

Custody, treasury management, fiat rails, audit and administration are problems every digital asset company solves once, usually badly the first time. Wesvel introduces portfolio companies to the providers it uses and has diligenced, and shares what it has learned about running institutional operations in this market.

Boundaries

Support does not mean influence over a protocol’s governance beyond the fund’s voting rights, and it does not mean the fund trades on information it receives as an investor. Where a portfolio position and a trading relationship exist together, the conflict is managed under a written policy, information is walled where it must be, and the arrangement is disclosed.

Practice

How Wesvel approaches it

  • 01Portfolio products are used only where they fit a strategy and pass the same diligence as any other venue; the investment does not buy an exemption.
  • 02Liquidity or trading relationships with portfolio companies are on arm’s-length terms and disclosed to investors.
  • 03Non-public information received as an investor is walled from trading under a written policy.
  • 04Support is offered through the same operating teams that run the strategies, not a separate platform function.
