Digital Asset Creation

From instrument to issuance.

A digital asset is an instrument before it is a token. Wesvel helps companies, funds and issuers decide whether a token serves their purpose, and if it does, design its economics, legal structure and technology and bring it to market, with the discipline of a firm that holds and trades these instruments professionally.

Should it exist

The first question is what the asset does that an existing instrument does not: transferability, programmability, collateral use, access to a new investor base, settlement speed. Where the answer is nothing, the advice is not to issue. Where it is something, the design follows from it.

Economic design

For a fund or asset token: what the holder owns, how it is valued, redeemed and transferred, and who may hold it. For a network or utility token: supply, distribution, vesting and unlock schedules across all holder classes, and whether demand is organic or reflexive. Wesvel has diligenced hundreds of these designs as an investor and applies that lens to corporate engagements.

Technology and distribution

Chain and standard selection, contract development and audit, custody and transfer-agent integration, and the venues or platforms through which the asset reaches holders. Wesvel’s infrastructure relationships, from custody to tokenization platforms to on-chain execution, are available to clients.

Practice

How Wesvel approaches it

  • 01Every engagement begins with the question of whether a token is the right instrument; the answer is sometimes no.
  • 02Economic designs are stress-tested against the unlock and supply dynamics the firm models as an investor.
  • 03Legal structure is settled with counsel before technology is specified, and contracts enforce the documented terms.
  • 04Where a Wesvel vehicle might hold the asset, that interest is disclosed at the outset.
